Rebekah couldn't understand why the people were yelling, "Crucify Him!" She knew Jesus wasn't a criminal. She had seen Him heal the poor, and hold the children. She watched Him as He was lead away, and followed, still longing for the mob to be silent. She wept when she saw His beaten back, and the way the soldiers mocked Him. She was pushed by the crowd to watch Him be hung on the cross, and wished He would save Himself.
She knew He could, and didn't understand why He let such injustice be shown to Him.
She looked up, and her eyes met His. "Love." She saw Him mouth to her. She was sure He knew her questions, and love was the answer. He was allowing them to kill Him because He loved them. He loved the soldiers who mocked Him, He loved the crowd who yelled for His death. His love is unconditional. Rebekah's face was drenched in tears, but she knew He had to die. He was dying to save all humanity, and she watched her Savior die.
