What I'm about to say may change your way of life.
Being a Christian teenager can be an amazing journey of living in Christ, or it can be filled with mixed feelings and frustration.
Read to the end, then decide which path you wish to take.
First I'll tell you about one of my friends who is now in college.
Last year she shared that she wished she hadn't spent so much time in high school reading books (always. She never stopped.)and spent more time seeking God. Don't get me wrong, reading is good! I love reading! You just can't let it get in the way of meeting with God.
Now I'll tell you about how I spent my first year of being a teenager.
I wanted to do the "teenager" thing right. I wanted to read all the popular books, watch the good movies(that were clean). I obsessed over fictional characters, and my thoughts were always thinking about different "fandoms". I thought my life was perfect; that fictional characters could make my teenage life complete.
Are you there? Does your life revolve around fictional characters and stories?
After eight months of being a teenager, I went on a trip with my youth group. And I saw what a Christian teenager's life could be like.
You could be seeking God daily instead of sobbing through a fictional love story. (Anyone else rather be joyful in Christ?)
You could be thinking about Jesus, and how good He is. He could be in your every thought. And it's amazing.
You could let God write your love story instead of wishing yours was like the ones in books.
So here's the beginning of a journey for some. Choosing to be the teenager on fire for Christ, or be the average teen who is engrossed in stories that never happened.
Some of you may be mad at me right now, but some may be like me and want to seek God. I promise you it is a million times better!!!
