I absolutely love reading missionary stories. From Lottie Moon to George Müller, I've read them.
Two of my favorite missionaries are Jim& Elizabeth Elliot, who were ultimately my heroes growing up(and still are).
Jim Elliot was truly a man of God, willing to go to a jungle to serve a tribe that was known for killing others. He knew that even death was worth it, if it was for the sake of Christ.
"He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." -Jim Elliot
When Jim and his three other missionary companions were murdered by the very people they were trying to reach, God still used their lives for His glory. Men and women from all over the world came and served in their place. His life impacted the world in so many ways.
Elizabeth Elliot not only gave up the comfort of an American life, but also stood firm during the trials she faced in Ecuador. Even when her husband and his partners were killed, she still followed God's calling to witness to this tribe. She continued the legacy, and inspires others even today.
I'm sure you can see why these two missionaries are so inspiring to me. If I am even a tiny bit as in love with Christ as they were, I know God will use me for His glory. They were truly a husband and wife seeking after God's own heart.
